When You Want to Sleep Like a Queen, Invest in These Things

Sleep Like a Queen

If you wake up feeling exhausted or constantly dealing with the fatigue and under-eye circles, perhaps it’s time to pay attention to your sleep. You may not be getting enough or you have been waking up a lot of times during the night. How do you sleep and wake up like a queen? From getting a nice silk nightdress to using block curtains, here are the things you need to invest in.

1. Silky Nightdress

Do you know that sleeping naked is healthy? It promotes better blood circulation and faster sleep since you’ll feel cooler. But not everyone likes to do that, so if you’re one of these people, the next best option is to choose the right clothes. You may wear your favourite PJs or feel sexy with a silk nightdress.

Silk is one of the lightest fabrics, which makes it a great material during the summer. It also helps absorb moisture, which retains coolness.

2. Weighted Blanket

Blankets are not created equal. Some of them may provide extra benefits besides keeping you warm and cosy at night. One of these is a weighted blanket. Also known as a gravity blanket, it is a heavy bed material used by therapists and counsellors for many years. It may help people regulate their emotions by calming the autonomic nervous system.

In other words, it lowers your feelings of anxiety, depression, and stress. It’s the next best thing to being cuddled by a loved one.

3. Dehumidifier

While your air-conditioning unit and heater make you feel comfortable any season, they can also contribute to excess moisture in the bedroom. When the moisture levels are high, humidity also increases. Higher humidity equals discomfort.

Worse, moisture and humidity can encourage the growth of moulds and mildew. These fungi can emit compounds that can make the room smell musty. To control that, you can use a dehumidifier. It is a small electrical device that tones down humidity. This way, you’ll feel more relaxed inside the bedroom.

4. Essential Oils

Some studies suggest that some essential oils are therapeutic that they can lull you to sleep. An excellent example is lavender. In a thorough investigation published in 2013, this herb could help people sleep faster and longer. It may also decrease pain and mood symptoms, such as anxiety, which may keep you up all night.

Other options include:

  • Valerian
  • Peppermint or spearmint
  • Chamomile
  • Bergamot

5. Eye Mask

What’s the perfect partner to your silk nightdress? It’s the eye mask, of course.

To fall asleep, your body needs to produce hormones, and one of these is melatonin. It helps regulate your circadian rhythm or body clock by decreasing cortisol levels. It also slows down your heart rate and blood pressure, so you’re more prepared to fall asleep.

The body clock, though, is sensitive to light. Your body can sense various light sources and mistakenly believe that it’s daytime. To prevent that, you use an eye mask.

6. Block Curtains

Eye masks are great, but you need to do more to get rid of the sources of light of your bedroom. Besides turning off the mobile phone, the bulb, and the night lamp, you should also shut off that coming from the outside. These include light from vehicles, other people’s homes, and lamp posts. This is where block curtains are useful. These heavy fabrics can prevent external light from passing through your window, further dimming the room.

Sometimes the secret to the best snooze fest is excellent sleep hygiene. These things will help you achieve that.
