Staying hydrated every day is very important to a person’s overall health, as dehydration to lead to health problems, headaches, crankiness, and other undesirable effects. Unfortunately, it can be difficult for people on the go, especially those traveling out of town for either business or pleasure. To that end, let’s look at five ways that resort properties can emphasize the importance of hydration to their guests.
Table of Contents
1- Water Dispensers in the Lobby
An easy way for quality resort properties to emphasize hydration is to put water dispensers in the lobby. One with fresh lemon slices or other flavorings and one without, if possible. This ensures that whether they’re coming or going, the first two things they see in the lobby are free water and a smiling member of the resort staff.
2- Complimentary Beverages in the Room
Although most resorts offer a paid mini-bar in their rooms, guests should also receive a selection of complimentary beverages. These can include bottles of water, juice, and other soft drinks. Although your resort will no doubt have clean drinking water available from the faucet, guests who come from places with bad tap water or have had bad experiences with tap water in other locations in the past might be in the habit of avoiding it altogether, leading to dehydration.
3- Bottled Water in Transportation
If the resort offers a shuttle service to and from the airport, cruise docks, resort areas away from the main building, tours or excursion dropoffs, activities, or other locations, having bottles of water (with lids to prevent spills inside the vehicle, of course!) can be a great way to keep customers happy, healthy, and hydrated. It’ll be especially appreciated on the return trip.
4- Beverage Service on Beaches
Beach resorts should also have carts, stands, or other areas set aside at multiple locations with drinks for guests. Spending hours soaking up the sun while lying in the sand is an easy way to sweat out electrolytes and lead to dehydrated, disoriented, and uncomfortable guests. A slight increase in the price of other beverages can allow you to sell bottled water at a discount.
5- Water Dispensers Anywhere Alcohol is Consumed
Many resorts include a bar or other type of place where beer, wine, and liquor can be consumed. These should include multiple water dispensers throughout the location, as it’ll allow guests to serve themselves and save valuable time for bartenders or other personnel. In addition to the normal benefits of hydration, this can also help prevent hangovers, which can be detrimental to a guest’s overall experience.
By ensuring that guests have access to clean drinking water, energy drinks, and other soft drinks at your resort, they remain happy and hydrated. Not only does this benefit the guest but it also helps out resort staff. Dehydration can be serious in some cases and the more time the medical staff spends treating dehydrated guests, the less time they’ll have if something more serious arises. Making the effort to keep resort guests properly hydrated will help your resort run better and help guests enjoy the resort experience more.
